Climb
Pucón´s Active Volcano
The ascent to the summit of steaming Volcano Villarrica (2,847m),
towering menacingly over Pucón, is an adventure positively
fizzing with excitement. Picture yourself on top of the volcano, armed
with crampons and ice-axe, standing over a lava-filled crater bellowing
smoke. Around you, a beautiful panorama of turquoise lakes, green
valleys and snow-capped Andean volcanoes. You hard work to make the
accent is rewarded by an fun slide down the volcano. Skiing and snowboarding
is also possible. POLITUR gives you an expert mountain guide and top
equipment to ensure you full safety and maximum excitement. |

and from volcano, expert English-speaking guide, radio contact for
whole trip, complete equipment, accident insurance, National Park

- Day before:
Try on snow boots and waterproof clothes. Prepare: pack
lunch (sandwiches, chocolate, fruit, 2 litres water),
suncream (factor 30), fleece, t-shirt, comfortable clothing,
long thick socks.
- 7am: Meet in POLITUR. Equipment provided: snow boots,
waterproof clothes, rucksack, gaiters, gloves, beanie,
sunglasses, crampons, ice-axe.
- 8:30am: Tranferred to the Volcán(1,400m). Advice
on equipment use, start climb. Option of chair-lift to
1,800m (cost 3000p extra).
- 1:30pm: Reach summit (2,847m). Admire view and crater.
Recover!
- 2:00pm: Start descent,sliding on your bottom in the
snow.
- 3:30pm: Minibus leaves for Pucón.
You need a basic level of fitness. People with serious
breathing or heart problems should not attempt the climb.
The climb is not suitable for pregnant women. |

Skiing |
For lovers of skiing, in the months July-November, it
is possible to make the volcano ascent on randonnee
skis, then later shoot down the slopes from the crater
to the bottom as quick as lightning.
